What Our Fire Investigations Determine
We determine the area of origin, the ignition source, the fuel first ignited, and how the fire spread. Where a third party is at fault, we identify the failure and preserve what you need to pursue recovery.
24-hour response, guaranteed.
We contact the insured the same day we're retained and typically deliver reports within five to ten business days of the final scene and evidence examination.

Origin and Cause Determination
An origin and cause investigation ends with one of four classifications: accidental, natural, incendiary, or undetermined. Your report documents the evidence behind that classification and the sources we ruled out.
Where a product, component, or contractor is implicated, we identify the failure and preserve the evidence under a documented chain of custody — whether that supports a recovery or defends against one.
We are retained by national insurers, independent adjusters, defence counsel, manufacturers, oil and gas operators, and large corporations.
We begin work the day we're retained.
What You Receive
-
Area of origin
-
Cause classification: accidental, natural, incendiary, or undetermined
-
Ignition source and first fuel ignited, where the evidence supports it
-
Full written report with scene photography and evidence inventory.
We classify a cause only when the evidence carries it. An undetermined finding that holds up is worth more to your file than a conclusion that doesn't.
Response and Reporting
Guaranteed 24-hour response. We contact the insured the same day we're retained. Reports are typically delivered within five to ten business days of the final scene and evidence examination.
How We Work
Every investigation follows NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033. We document burn patterns, examine electrical systems and appliances, collect physical evidence, and interview first responders and occupants. Each possible ignition source is tested against what the scene shows — not against assumptions.
Evidence and Spoliation
We secure and inventory physical evidence under a documented chain of custody, and coordinate joint scene examinations so all interested parties are notified before evidence is altered.

Our Team of Investigative Experts
Our team's technical depth includes a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical engineering, an APEGA-registered Professional Licensee (Engineering), and Red Seal journeyman electricians and automotive technicians. Where a component or product is implicated, we can carry the analysis through to the failure itself rather than referring it out.
Two of our investigators have been qualified as expert witnesses before the Court of King's Bench of Alberta. See our investigators and their credentials.
